Cultural traveller
Superficial visits don’t do the trick for me. Before going somewhere, I want to take a deep dive into my destination. Extensive preparation gets you halfway there: what does its history look like, how did things originate here, from what time perspective should I look at them? That gives me more insight, so that I can assess the value of things in an even better way. Take a look at the quality of those details, how beautifully these have been made! With travel and change, you sometimes end up in uncertain situations. You can’t assess all the risks in advance. But I actually want full insight into the final goal and, preferably, a detailed route that leads me there! What does the goal look like, why are we going there? By continuing to assess risks, sometimes, I don’t get around to the first steps. Once embarked on a journey, the cultural traveller will often trump the guide with knowledge and insights.
Chance can teach these self-willed travellers to make more use of and to trust in the qualities of others. To distinguish between actual risks and ‘fatal fantasies’. To enjoy the journey instead of doing everything according to blueprints.
Traveller or tourist?
- What is your luggage?
- Which experience(s) do you take with you?
- Having an experienced advisor is quite handy!
Adventurer
As an adventurer, I am eager to discover new destinations. I can think outside the box and love to go where no one has gone before.
Mountaineer
Changing without a purpose doesn’t do the trick for me. I set clear goals, the journey is only a means to reach that one summit or unique place.
Group traveller
I like to travel in the company of people with whom I can share my experiences. Also, I am truly interested in the experience of my travel companions.
